Rusk Rehabilitaton Center
For more than 30 years Rusk Rehabilitation Center has been providing quality care to people who have suffered an injury or illness. Rusk has achieved a reputation throughout Missouri and surrounding states as one of the foremost centers for rehabilitation and physical medicine. No other mid-Missouri hospital provides such comprehensive services in one place. In 1997, the University formed a partnership with HealthSouth, the largest provider of free standing rehabilitation facilities in the world. As part of this partnership, HealthSouth built a beautiful 60 bed rehabilitation hospital and outpatient rehabilitation facilities. The facility also includes a therapeutic pool. Rusk is fully accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities and the Joint Commission of Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. Rusk offers inpatient and outpatient programs specializing in treatment for disabilities including brain injuries, stroke, arthritis, spinal cord injury, chronic pain, and industrial injury. Rusk also offers a specialized pediatric rehabilitation program.

Outpatient Programs and Settings
PM&R Outpatient Clinics:
Over 10,000 patient visits are seen in the PM&R outpatient clinics and EMG labs, offering residents diverse experience in treating a variety of musculoskeletal and disabling conditions. Residents gain experience in a variety of injections including spinal injections. There is excellent experience in spasticity management including botulinum toxin injections, nerve blocks and baclofen pump management.

Brain Injury Day Treatment:
This is an outpatient multidisciplinary rehabilitation program designed to assist patients with postacute brain injuries to make the transition to return to the workforce and community.

Work Injury Rehabilitation:
This is an outpatient program that provides work hardening, work tolerance, and consultation services to industry with the goal of returning workers to their jobs or other gainful employment.

THINK FIRST Missouri:
Think First Missouri is a nationally acclaimed brain and spinal cord injury prevention program. The program also serves as a National Think First Model Training Site.

Harry S. Truman Veteran's Administration Hospital:
The VA has a very active PM&R program with an inpatient consultation service and busy clinics and EMG labs.
