Immunizations

The SHC Immunization Clinic provides students with routine immunizations. For a small fee, students may receive tuberculosis skin testing and measles, mumps and rubella (MMR).

Many people think "shots" or immunizations are just for kids. They're not! As a college student, you need to be protected against measles, mumps, rubella, tetanus, diphtheria, polio, varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B, and influenza (flu). Depending on your risk factors, you may also need protection against Hepatitis A, influenza, pneumococcal pneumonia and meningococcal meningitis.

Many people think diseases like measles have been wiped out. This is not true. During 1995, at least 39% of all reported measles cases in the United States occurred in people 20 years of age or older.

The Student Health Center immunization nurse is available to review your immunization history and answer questions. Call (573) 882-7481 for an appointment. Questions or concerns can be directed to a prevention nurse at (573) 882-4661.
