Workers’ Compensation Injury Clinic
– Robert Conway, MD, and all other PM&R Specialists
Workers' Compensation patients are cared for at two clinics. At the PM&R Clinic, Dr. Burris provides a multidisciplinary care management clinic for amputees, Dr. Acuff treats spinal cord injuries and Dr. Crooks cares for traumatic brain injuries. At Missouri Occupational Injury Center, Dr. Conway and providers from other specialties provide comprehensive Workers' Compensation Care for general musculoskeletal injuries. The Workers' Compensation team is on hand to provide support to providers, patients, adjusters, case managers and employers. The team includes: Monica Harris, Workers' Compensation Coordinator; Brenda Alder, RN, Nurse Case Manager; Kim Gebhardt, LPN and Deana Sanford, Patient Services Representative. EMG Clinic
– Robert Conway, MD, Carol Crooks, MD
Physiatrists experienced in evaluating neuromuscular disorders perform electromyography (EMG) and nerve conduction studies (NCS or NCV). These studies are helpful in evaluating motor neuron disease, radiculopathy, plexopathy, nerve entrapments, peripheral neuropathy, neuromuscular junction disorders, or myopathy.

Stroke Clinic

Comprehensive and interdisciplinary evaluation and management of patients who have suffered stroke is the focus of the Stroke Clinic. Services include neuropharmacology, therapy recommendations for speech, occupational and physical therapy, neuropsychological evaluation, community integration and vocational rehabilitation, and driving evaluation and training. A separate clinic is offered for comprehensive evaluation and treatment of spasticity related to stroke.

Spinal Cord Injury Clinic

Evaluation and care, including therapy recommendations and pharmacological management, for patients with paraplegia, tetraplegia and other spinal cord injury syndromes, is the focus of the Spinal Cord Injury Clinic.

Traumatic Brain Injury Clinic
– Jon Rupright, DO, Carol Crooks, MD
The Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) clinic is a comprehensive Brain Dysfunction Clinic. Diagnostic categories include: TBI, hypoxia/anoxia encephalopathy, metabolic encephalopathy, brain aneurysm, and viral encephalopathy. Patients with memory and cognitive problems secondary to the diagnosis listed are evaluated. The clinic provides evaluation and arrangement for further testing, if indicated. Recommendations can be made for neuropsychological testing, driving evaluations for the cognitively impaired, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech and language therapy. The aggressive management of behavior and cognitive problems resulting from these injuries are employed, using current recommendations for Neuropharmacology/Neurotransmitter treatment. Arrangements are made for appropriate psychological and psychiatric interventions.

Prosthetic and Orthotic Clinic

This clinic provides evaluation and post-operative management for amputee patients. This is an interdisciplinary clinic attended by a PM&R physician, orthotic and prosthetic specialists and physical therapists.

Spasticity Clinic
– Rez Farid, MD (Joseph Burris, MD - Stroke Spasticity)
Evaluation and treatment of patients with spasticity/pain using implantable intrathecal pumps is the focus of the Spasticity Clinic. Long-term care and follow-up of these patients is provided, including medication adjustment and pump refills.

Stroke Spasticity Clinic

This clinic focuses specifically on the evaluation and treatment of spasticity related to stroke. Specific issues related to this unique patient population are addressed, with comprehensive treatment ranging from therapy interventions, orthotic management, oral medications, and botulinum toxin injections.

Bariatric Clinic
– Michael Acuff, MD
Evaluation and care of patients during the pre- and postoperative phases of gastric bypass surgery.

Pediatric Cerebral Palsy Clinic
– Rez Farid, MD
This clinic is an interdisciplinary clinic, serving patients with cerebral palsy, attended by a PM&R physician, a pediatric orthopaedic Surgeon and a pediatrician specializing in pediatric development and neurology. The clinic also provides patients with consultations from dieticians, social services, occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech therapy, orthotics and prosthetics and seating and mobility specialists.

Muscular Dystrophy Clinic (MDA Clinic)
– Jane Anne Emerson, MD
Offered in association with the Muscular Dystrophy Association, this interdisciplinary clinic – attended by adult and pediatric neurologists – evaluates and manages patients’ muscular dystrophy related care. Consultation with PM&R physicians, physical therapists and speech therapists address the patient’s needs for therapy, splints, braces, and wheel chairs. MDA’s muscular dystrophy coordinator is in attendance and provides additional support and advice to patients and their families.

Musculoskeletal Clinic

The clinic is staffed by physiatrists experienced in evaluating and treating a variety of acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions, including radiculopathy, tendonitis, bursitis, arthritis, nerve entrapments, soft tissue injuries and other disorders. In the clinic we restore function which has possibly been impaired by acute pain, sports injuries, orthopedic problems, and/or rheumatologic problems. The problems often manifest themselves with abnormal gait patterns, pain with movement, altered movements, or abnormal postures.
