Dystonia
Dystonia is characterized by sustained muscle contractions, usually producing twisting and repetitive movements. It can even cause abnormal postures or positions. In adults, common locations include:
- Neck (called cervical dystonia, also sometimes called spasmodic torticollis)
- Eyes (called blepharospasm, consists of involuntary frequent blinking and spasms of eyelid closure)
- Limbs (such as cramping of the hand or arm interfering with specific tasks, such as writer's cramp)
