Tuberculosis Program Missouri Rehabilitation Center was founded in 1907 as a state tuberculosis hospital. Through the years, its mission has greatly expanded, first to a broad range of pulmonary treatments and then to a center for physical rehabilitation. The hospital's original mission has not been forgotten, and it continues to treat patients who have tuberculosis. Tuberculosis treatment Early diagnosis and modern drug treatments make it possible for most tuberculosis patients to be treated in their home communities. Missouri Rehabilitation Center accepts confirmed tubercular patients whose disease has not responded to traditional medical treatment as well as tubercular patients who are noncompliant with recommended treatment. Noncompliant patients can be admitted under court order. Court orders are the responsibility of the referring agency. Missouri Rehabilitation Center's years of experience enable it to provide specialized treatment, acute care nursing, nutritional support, therapy and education for the tuberculosis patient.
