The MQA is the official state recognition for excellence in quality leadership. Modeled after the prestigious Baldrige Performance Excellence Program, the MQA is recognized as one of the strongest state-level quality award programs in the country.
This is the first time University of Missouri Health Care has won the Missouri Quality Award.
"This award is a direct result of the efforts of all the dedicated and caring employees and medical staff at University of Missouri Health Care who make the delivery of quality care possible," said Jim Ross, chief executive officer. "We are honored to be recognized by our statewide peers for our efforts to continually improve on our high standards of care."
"This stellar achievement would not have been possible without the world-class workforce at University of Missouri Health Care," Ross said.
The MQA criteria, which is based on the Malcom Baldrige National Quality Award for Performance Excellence, are embodied in seven categories:
Leadership
Strategic planning
Customer focus
Measurement, analysis, and knowledge management
Workforce focus
Operations focus
Results
The award process began in February of this year with a written application to familiarize MQA examiners of the goals, mission, vision values and processes within University of Missouri Health Care. After review by the MQA Board of Examiners, MU Health Care was granted a site visit from examiners in late September. MU Health Care leaders accepted the award at a recognition dinner on November 17.
