Cardiac Rehabilitation Program

Patient on a treadmillThe program is designed to assist the patient who has been hospitalized with a heart attack or heart disease. It also serves the patient who is in danger of having a progression of heart problems. The goal is to help patients prevent future heart attacks and overcome heart problems that are already in progress.

The Cardiac Rehabilitation program is an outpatient program for those who have already completed phase 1, acute cardiac rehabilitation in another hospital and have been discharged from that hospital.

Missouri Rehabilitation Center provides

  • Phase 2
    A12-week prescribed exercise program which is electronically monitored by a cardiac nurse.

  • Phase 3
    An exercise program monitored by a cardiac nurse or technician and is not electronically monitored.

  • Phase 4
    An exercise maintenance program which is self-monitored by the patient.

Education sessions on diet and lifestyle are conducted for patients in all levels of the program. Information pertinent to cardiac physiology and disease is stressed.

Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) Program

The CHF program provides education on the disease process of CHF, lifestyle changes, monitored exercise and individual counseling regarding medical problems.

The CHF program can also prepare patients to return to work, and the resumption of normal family and social roles. To be eligible for this program, a patient needs to be thoroughly evaluated for CHF and referred by a physician. A physical therapy evaluation will be performed.

The tools you need to maintain and improve your personal level of optimal health can be attained through the CHF program. CHF program offers classes on:

  • medications
  • managing stress
  • living with CHF
  • dietary consultation
  • monitored exercise

Exercise class sessions are held on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
