MU Children's Hospital Therapy Center
MU brings a state of the art facility to Columbia for children's therapy. In addition to high quality indoor activity rooms and gymnasiums, the MU Children's Hospital Therapy Center houses a unique outdoor playground. It is designed to help kids reach their goals of running, jumping, climbing, wheelchair propulsion and navigation. The playground also features components to promote high level thinking, sensory exploration and Mama and Baby Hippo misting stations for warm weather. Back inside, children are again exposed to all-inclusive and accessible equipment with well-planned space, where they are encouraged to work hard but play harder!
Physical, Occupational and Speech therapy services will be offered here Monday-Friday from 8-5. Our clinicians are recognized throughout the community for outstanding qualities and dedication to the well-being of our kids. We work closely with rural therapists and teachers to help improve continuity of care. Our new facility features TeleHealth and Mobile Communication techniques to enhance long-distance communication.
Services: Developmental assessment and treatment including strength, coordination, movement quality, fine and gross motor skills, speech and language, feeding and swallowing.
Handwriting, sensory integration, wheelchair management, cortical visual impairment, serial casting for spasticity management, constraint casting, custom splinting for hands and feet, and medical equipment assessment.
