COLUMBIA, Mo. — University of Missouri Health Care has set up a hotline to provide the community with information about 2009 H1N1 influenza. The hotline number is (573) 884-9898.
Callers to the hotline can choose options including:
• General information about 2009 H1N1 influenza
• Emergency warning signs
• High-risk groups
• Tips on how to stay well
• Flu vaccinations
“The hotline was developed to provide general information to our patients and the public about H1N1 influenza,” said Chris Smith, M.E.P., coordinator of worker safety and emergency preparedness at MU Health Care. “In addition to general information, the hotline tells callers when to see a doctor, who is at greatest risk of complications from influenza, and dates and times vaccines will be available.”
The hotline will be updated with new information as it becomes available and will give answers to the most commonly asked questions. The hotline information is provided by infections diseases specialists at University Physicians, as well as infection control experts and emergency preparedness planners at MU Health Care.
