Cardiac patients at University Hospital that do not require CICU monitoring are cared for on several inpatient units, including 4E, 4W and 6W. These units are completely equipped for telemetry monitoring. Cardiac patients hospitalized on these step-down units are cared for by the same team of physicians that staff the CICU.

The Cardiovascular Medicine Consult Service is a separate physician team composed of an attending cardiologist, a cardiology fellow, residents and medical students. This team of physicians provides consultative cardiology services to patients hospitalized on non-cardiology units.
