Missouri Rehabilitation Center operates one of the largest and most successful ventilator-weaning programs in the country. Physicians specializing in pulmonology and critical care direct and supervise a team of respiratory therapists and specialists during the entire weaning process. Our experience with pulmonary disorders (102 years and counting) gives us the time and expertise to achieve an 86 percent success rate.

Missouri Rehabilitation Center is one of only a few long-term acute care hospitals that gets its patients on their feet while still on a ventilator. This unique form of therapy gets the patient out of bed starting rehabilitation before most other facilities resulting in higher patient satisfaction rates.

Through a gradual weaning process, most patients acheive total independence from the ventilator. Others may accomplish independence for part of each day while still needing a ventilator at night. Our team of trained specialists provide the care and support patients need to breathe on their own again.
