Nursing Orientation
On the first day of employment, all newly hired staff attends house-wide orientation. Nurses continue orientation for three additional days. Through both lecture and hands-on learning, our nurses become familiar with:
- Nursing Organization structure and philosophy
- Shared Governance
- Patient Safety and Risk Management
- Infection Control
- Restraint Usage
- Equipment and Monitors
- Computerized Documentation
- CPR and Mock Code Practice
Following orientation, our unit educators continue with unit specific education. Each nurse is assigned an on-unit preceptor in order to work side by side in delivering patient care. Specialty areas have an extended orientation process including additional classes.
