About the Allied Health Staff
Allied Health Staff Categories
Allied Health Active Category Appointees to this category must hold full-time employment at UHC or the University of Missouri - Columbia School of Medicine, be involved in fifty (50) patient contacts (A patient contact is defined as a consultation or diagnostic evaluation and outpatient visit) at the UHC within a two-year (2) period. The patient contact requirement may be waived for practitioners with at least twenty (20) years of service in the active category or for those practitioners who document their efforts to support the hospital's patient care mission to the satisfaction of the Executive Committee of the Medical Staff.
Responsibilities - Appointees to this category must: Contribute to the organization and administrative affairs of the allied health staff. Actively participate in recognized functions of the staff appointment including quality/performance improvement, risk management and monitoring activities, including monitoring of new appointees during the provisional period and in discharging other staff functions as may be required. Fulfill any meeting attendance requirements as established by the allied health staff.
Allied Health Affiliate Category The allied health affiliate category is reserved for practitioners who do not meet the eligibility requirements for the allied health active category or choose not to pursue active status.

Allied Health Temporary Category The allied health temporary category is reserved for practitioners who are members of a staffing agency or are on a private contract and serving as a locum on a temporary basis. This category is also for locums paid by the University and not through a staffing agency or private contract.

Allied Health Honorary Category The allied health honorary category is restricted to those individuals recommended by the Allied Health Credentials Committee, Medical Staff Credentials Committee and approved by the ECOMS. Appointment to this category is entirely discretionary and may be rescinded at any time. Applicants in this category are not given privileges, thus reappointment to this category is not necessary, as appointees are not eligible for clinical privileges. Applicants in this category must maintain all required state licenses and documents of recognition to practice in the State of Missouri.
