University of Missouri Health Care was the only hospital in Columbia or central Missouri to make U.S. News and World Report's prestigious list of best hospitals for 2012-2013.

Of more than 100 hospitals across the state, MU Health Care was ranked in the top two.

In addition, MU Health Care's ear, nose and throat program was rated among the top 50 in the nation.

Eight other specialty areas were recognized as high performing, including diabetes and endocrinology, gastroenterology, gynecology, nephrology, neurology and neurosurgery, orthopaedics, pulmonology and urology.
