COLUMBIA, Mo. ― The 17th annual Ellis Fischel Gala will be held Saturday, Aug. 24, at The Lodge of Four Seasons at the Lake of the Ozarks.
The gala will begin at 5 p.m. with a silent auction, followed by dinner and entertainment by jazz vocalist Denise Thimes, Art in Action’s Brian Olsen, and Jeremiah Allen and Friends, featuring saxophonist Tim Cunningham.

“Since 1997, this gala has been the largest fundraising endeavor for Ellis Fischel,” said Paul Dale, M.D., interim medical director of Ellis Fischel Cancer Center, chief of surgical oncology and Margaret Proctor Mulligan Distinguished Professor in Medical Research. “This annual event has raised more than $1.4 million, and that money directly benefits our patients, who come from every county in the state.”
Through the years, the gala has raised money for research, medical equipment and infrastructure that benefit cancer patients, including the Ernest and Eugenia Wyatt Guest House and a mobile van offering mammography and prostate screening services.
Ellis Fischel Cancer Center offers patients with all types of cancers a comprehensive health team and innovative diagnostic and treatment options. Ellis Fischel is also a key investigational center for the study of the effectiveness of a variety of cancer treatments, including such breakthrough drugs as tamoxifen.
