Hahn-Cover named director of Office of Clinical Effectiveness
COLUMBIA, Mo. — Kristin Hahn-Cover, M.D., has been named director of University of Missouri Health Care’s Office of Clinical Effectiveness (OCE) and associate chief of staff for University Hospital and Clinics.
The Office of Clinical Effectiveness oversees areas of quality improvement, patient safety, infection control and risk management for MU Health Care. In her new role, Hahn-Cover will partner with 20 professionals working within the OCE and health care professionals throughout the health care system to continuously improve the quality of care provided to patients.
Hahn-Cover has served as the associate medical director of the Office of Clinical Effectiveness since August 2008. During her time as associate director of the OCE, she has successfully led several quality-improvement initiatives and has demonstrated her leadership skills.
“Dr. Hahn-Cover has consistently shown over the past year that she has the skills to successfully lead the Office of Clinical Effectiveness,” said Les Hall, M.D., chief medical officer and former director of the OCE. “She has quality-improvement expertise, great leadership and interpersonal skills, and a strong relationship as a mentor within the OCE.”
A graduate of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Hahn-Cover completed her residency training in internal medicine and served as a faculty member there. She came to the University of Missouri as a faculty physician in 2000. She has served two years as an associate program director for the Internal Medicine Residency Program and director of the residency clinics held at University Physicians-Woodrail General Internal Medicine Clinic and the University Physicians-Fairview General Internal Medicine Clinic. She first became involved in quality-improvement activities while working in resident physician education.
Hahn-Cover will continue her practice of ambulatory general internal medicine at University Physicians-Fairview General Internal Medicine Clinic and will remain actively involved in educational programs for medical students, resident physicians and faculty. She is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and has been named by Best Doctors Inc. as one of the best doctors in America for many years.
