This is a decision that is usually made in coordination with your physician. You absolutely have to be off of narcotic pain medication before this office will consider allowing anyone to drive. There are considerations about the ability to control the automobile in an urgent situation, but ultimately that decision is discussed at follow-up visits. A good indicator is if you can walk a block without an assistive device you would be a good candidate to drive an automobile. Most leg fractures require you to not drive for at least 6 weeks if it involves your right leg.
