Rheumatology - Immunology
MU Children's Hospital's pediatric rheumatology service is part of the combined adult and child health rheumatology division and is dedicated to providing specialized care to children with chronic rheumatic diseases. Our team consists of physicians and other health care experts combine their expertise to provide each child the individualized care he or she needs. Our team's mission is to provide up to date care with a kind, compassionate touch. Many rheumatic conditions are autoimmune disorders and these conditions often cause symptoms such as joint pain and inflammation.
Expert Care With a Family Focus
Our team of health care providers delivers progressive care with a love for children. Our team offers a complete evaluation and diagnosis for each patient, which includes lab tests, radiographs and other diagnostic testing as needed.
As a part of MU Children's Hospital, our department has access to more than 26 different pediatric sub-specialists. As such, our pediatric rheumatologists often combine their care with other specialists including dermatologists, ophthalmologists, renal specialists, physical therapists and occupational therapists to create a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary treatment plan.
Our physicians believe the family is always a part of the health care equation for their child. Each family is promptly called with lab and diagnostic reports. We include the family in the education regarding each diagnosis and in all of our treatment recommendations.

What to Expect at Your First Visit
Our physicians obtain a complete medical history, followed by a comprehensive physical exam. After a diagnosis is made, our health care team will create a treatment plan, educate each family about the specific diagnosis and establish follow-up care.
