Mammography Van
Breast cancer screening with mammography and clinical breast exams are available at Ellis Fischel Cancer Center in Columbia and also through the Center's Cancer Screening Mobile Mammography Van. The mammography van, staffed by certified radiology technologists and nurse examiners, travels to communities throughout central and north-central Missouri. Businesses may request a van visit to provide screenings for their employees. Rural physicians may find the van's services useful for patients who need more comprehensive screening than they can offer locally. Requests also come from church groups, county health departments and civic clubs. But services are not limited to these organizations. Cancer Screening Services staff will work with each requesting agency to tailor a program that will meet its needs.
The 44-foot long van is a clinic on wheels, featuring an examination room and a mammography suite. Van staff offer mammograms, clinical breast exams and breast health education services.
