Palliative Care
Missouri Palliative Care Program We help you where you are
If you are seriously ill, you should know that University of Missouri Health Care has a program to help you - wherever you are in the disease process, and whether you are living at home, in a nursing facility or hospitalized.
Palliative care may be right for you if you suffer from pain or other symptoms due to a serious illness. Serious illnesses may include cancer, heart disease, respiratory disease, kidney failure, Alzheimer’s, AIDS, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and multiple sclerosis.
What is it? Palliative care is offered through a health care program focusing on expert treatment of the pain, discomfort and stress that can occur with life-limiting illnesses. Our program is open to adults of any age and at any stage of an illness.
Palliative care is not giving up - it is getting the best for you and your family. Palliative care can be given along with treatments that may control or improve your disease such as chemotherapy, radiation and surgery.
