James Stannard MD

James Stannard, MD, is the medical director of the Missouri Orthopaedic Institute and specializes in sports medicine, orthopaedic trauma and complex knee injuries. Dr. Stannard earned his medical degree from University of Virginia School of Medicine, and completed a surgery internship and orthopaedic residency at Brook Army Medical Center, Fort Houston, Texas. He completed an AO Trauma Fellowship at Kantonspital, Chur, Switzerland.
He is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons and is a Diplomat of the National Board of Examiners. Dr. Stannard has won several military awards, including three Meritorious Service Medals, and the Army Commendation Medal. He was recoginzed as one of the Best Doctors in America in 2007-2008, and again in 2008-2009.
