Mortality among patients with serious treatable complications after surgery

This measure tracks patients who died after developing serious, treatable complications after surgery. All medical and surgical treatments carry a risk of side effects or treatments. Often, the risk can be reduced, but sometimes they can't be prevented. Average or lower rates of mortality may be a sign of that the hospital's health care professionals are closely watching and effectively treating patients with surgical complications.
