Helicopter Service at University Hospital

The only Level I Trauma Center in mid-Missouri and one of only five in the state treats more than 25,000 patients in its emergency room each year.

Prehospital care and transportation of trauma victims is provided by ground and air. The Staff For Life helicopter service serves the state of Missouri through the provision of stabilization and transportation of critically injured or ill children and adults by experienced flight nurses and paramedics with advanced training and education. Responding to both injury scene and other facilities, the helicopter service personnel deliver state-of-the-art clinical care and stabilization with rapid response to requests. Detailed case reviews are conducted with referring hospital staff upon request and outreach education programs are offered to both referring hospital and EMS personnel.

For 25 years, University Hospital's Staff for Life helicopter service has been saving lives throughout Missouri. Each year, the Staff for Life Helicopter Service flight crew responds to more than 1,000 emergencies and provides rapid transport to area hospitals.
