Safe Kids

World-class care begins with injury prevention

Safe Kids Columbia brings together a large array of safety contributors, including local health and safety experts, educators, corporations, foundations, volunteers, and many more community members all dedicated to serving our mission of childhood protection.

Together, we strive to educate families about childhood safety and accident prevention, create safer environments for children, and advocate for improved laws to protect children.

We are also affiliated with Safe Kids Worldwide, a global network of organizations united by the mission of preventing unintentional childhood injury. Unintentional childhood injury is one of the leading causes of death and disability for children ages 19 and under. The Safe Kids Columbia Coalition provides support and resources to Audrain, Boone, Callaway, Cole, Cooper and Howard counties through a partnership led by the University of Missouri Women's and Children's Hospital.

University of Missouri Children’s Hospital will host Safe Kids Camp Amazing, a series of safety-themed summer camps for children 3 to 8 years old, each week between June 17 and July 30. Each camp session lasts three hours and features a safety topic.

Space is limited to 20 kids per camp, and adults must accompany the children. All camps include activities, games, crafts, snacks and outdoor time. The camp costs $15 per week for the first camper and $10 per week for each sibling, or children can attend all seven camp sessions for $70 per child.
