- Advancements and innovative technology in laparoscopy and flexible gastrointestinal endoscopy
- Surgery without scars, Natural Orifice Transluminal Endoscopic Surgery (NOTES)
- Both areas are currently intensively studied in the GI Surgery animal laboratory at MU and in clinical studies under the leadership of Dr. Thaler and his partner Dr. Miedema (Gastrointestinal Surgery Institute).
