Pediatric nurse specialist to lead national organization
Cathy Cartwright, R.N., M.S.N., a pediatric clinical nurse specialist at University of Missouri Health Care’s Children’s Hospital, has been voted president-elect of the American Association of Neuroscience Nurses. Cartwright will begin her term in March 2008 and will take over as president of the organization in March 2009.
Cartwright is serving as secretary and treasurer of the American Association of Neuroscience Nurses, an organization committed to the advancement of neuroscience nursing as a specialty.
“Cathy is very deserving of this honor and recognition,” said Cindy Brooks, R.N., manager of pediatric services at Children’s Hospital. “She exemplifies serving as a clinical expert in her field and will demonstrate her talents in leading this national organization.”
Cartwright graduated from the University of Missouri School of Nursing in 1973 and has been involved in the care of pediatric patients for 33 years. She has been a pediatric clinical nurse specialist at University of Missouri Health Care since 1996. She co-authored the book, “Nursing Care of the Pediatric Neurosurgery Patient,” as a reference for all nurses caring for children with neurosurgical conditions.
