Ellis Fischel Cancer Center promotes lung cancer awareness
Ellis Fischel Cancer Center will hold a lung cancer community awareness and education event from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, in the first floor lobby of Ellis Fischel Cancer Center, 115 Business Loop 70 W., Columbia, Mo.
According to the American Cancer Society, lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in both men and women. However, lung cancer is one of the most preventable types of cancer.
To promote November as Lung Cancer Awareness Month, health care experts will offer educational information and presentations about lung cancer. Among the topics to be discussed are risk factors, prevention methods, early detection, treatment options and coping with the disease. Smoking-cessation and lung cancer support group information will also be available.
