What you should know about hip and knee replacement

Thomas Aleto, MDThomas Aleto, M.D., an orthopaedic surgeon and joint-replacement specialist at University of Missouri Health Care, will present the latest information about joint-replacement procedures at a free seminar at 1:30 p.m. Monday, July 16, at the Farm Bureau Club House at 385 Ashley Road, Boonville, Mo.

“The seminar is meant to educate people about arthritis, available treatment options and, in particular, joint replacement, so that they are more involved in the decision-making process concerning their care,” said Aleto. “My focus will be on joint replacement — how it is done, what one can expect and some recent trends.”

Aleto received his medical degree from the MU School of Medicine, where he also completed a residency in orthopaedic surgery. He completed a fellowship at the Center for Hip and Knee Surgery in Mooresville, Ind., one of the leading joint-replacement centers in the nation.

Aleto practices at the Missouri Hip and Knee Center in Columbia, Mo., with his partner Sonny Bal, M.D. He is also seeing patients at his outreach clinic at University Physicians – Fayette Medical Clinic at 308 South Church Street, Fayette, Mo.

The seminar is open to the public; however, space is limited, so reservations are required. Reservations can be made by calling (573) 882-3104.
