MU Sports Medicine physicians to lead seminar on shoulder health

Steven Kane, M.D., an orthopaedic surgeon with Missouri Sports Medicine, will present an informative golf swing seminar titled, “How to Play Better and Play Longer: A Discussion on Keys to a Stronger Shoulder,” at noon Saturday, June 30, at A.L. Gustin Golf Course on Stadium Blvd. in Columbia, Mo.

Kevin Marberry, M.D., and Richard White, M.D., who also specialize in orthopaedic surgery with Missouri Sports Medicine, will be present, along with local golf pros, to answer questions.

Kane is the director of sports medicine for the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Medicine. He specializes in knee and shoulder surgery. A graduate of the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, Kane completed his residency at the Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, N.C., and completed a sports medicine fellowship at the Western Surgery Center in Logan, Utah. He is a board-certified surgeon and has served as a physician for several college teams. His research focuses on sports medicine and radiographic analysis of shoulder and knee injuries.

The seminar is free, and lunch will be provided. A four-person scramble golf tournament will be held after the seminar. The golf tournament fee is $45 per person, which includes greens fees and cart rental.
