Columbia Regional Hospital will co-sponsor the 19th annual St. Patrick’s Day 5K Run at 8 a.m. Saturday, March 15.

Approximately 900 participants will begin the race between Eighth and Ash streets in downtown Columbia. This year the route is certified by the USA Track and Field Commission.

Children ages 14 can participate in the 5K for $15. Children ages 14 and younger can participate for free in the Mayor’s Mile, a separate race that will begin after the 5K run. Each participant gets a ribbon and a t-shirt.

A ceremony will follow the race to present awards to first-, second- and third-place runners in each age category. The first-place overall winners in the men’s and women’s categories will receive $100 gift certificates for a pair of New Balance running shoes at Tryathletics.

All proceeds from the race will benefit the Columbia Track Club which helps young people participate in and go to track events and camp each summer.
