University Physicians opens new family medicine clinic in north Columbia
University Physicians-Smiley Lane will celebrate its grand opening with an open house from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, at 2325 Smiley Lane in Columbia, Mo.
The clinic is a brand-new facility located in north Columbia offering comprehensive care, from prenatal visits to adult family medicine. Practicing physicians at the Smiley Lane clinic include Mendi Hecker, M.D.; Peter Koopman, M.D.; Richelle Koopman, M.D.; and Carin Reust, M.D. Obstetrician/gynecologist Jonathan Thomas, M.D., will offer specialized obstetric and gynecologic care at the new facility.
The UP-Smiley Lane clinic also features on-site lab-work and X-ray capabilities, as well as a drive-through patient pharmacy, for convenience and comprehensive care.
“With the tremendous growth and development of residential areas in north Columbia, it became evident to us that we should bring health care services to that area,” said David Mountjoy, director of clinic operations for University Physicians. “The addition of the Smiley Lane clinic will bring family medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, pharmacy, laboratory and radiology services to the north side of our community. Patients will have access to all these outstanding services right in their own back yards.”
