Thompson Center invites parents, professionals to autism conference
COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Thompson Center for Autism and Neurodevelopmental Disorders will host its eighth annual Autism Intervention Conference from 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Friday, April 19, and Saturday, April 20, at the Holiday Inn Executive Center, 2200 I-70 Drive in Columbia. A pre-conference workshop for health care and mental health professionals also will be held from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, April 18.
The conference is open to parents and caregivers of children with autism spectrum disorders, as well as professionals, such as teachers, psychologists, therapists and other health care professionals. Presentation topics will include:
- Diagnosing autism and changes to the clinical definition of autism spectrum disorders
- Current interventions and treatments for autism
- Using technology to improve care and quality-of-life for people with autism
Registration is required to attend the conference. The cost for students and family members of people with autism is $50. Conference registration for professionals costs $185 on or before Friday, April 5, and $235 after April 5. There is an additional $120 fee for the pre-conference workshop.
