Mizzou Therapy Services Move to be Celebrated With Open House, Ribbon-Cutting Event
COLUMBIA, Mo. ― Mizzou Therapy Services is opening at a new, larger location at 4040 Rangeline St. in Columbia.
University of Missouri Health Care staff, along with members of the Columbia Chamber of Commerce, will celebrate the new Mizzou Therapy Services-Rangeline clinic with an open house and ribbon-cutting event from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7.
“We were very pleased with our north side University Physicians-Smiley Lane location,” said Brett Hayes, a physical therapist and physical rehabilitation manager for Mizzou Therapy Services. “However, we outgrew that space. Our new 5,000-square-foot facility on Rangeline will feature seven private examination rooms, two work stations, a reception and lounge area, and a gym.
“Mizzou Therapy Services sites are all full-service facilities where we can meet any physical medicine or rehabilitative need,” Hayes said. “Here on Rangeline, as at our other locations, we provide treatment for work-related injuries, post-operative orthopaedic surgical rehabilitation, soft-tissue and sports-related injuries, and in this particular center, we also specialize in pelvic-floor therapy services and can treat patients for pain during pregnancy.”
Sarah Hwang, MD, assistant professor of clinical physical medicine and rehabilitation and director of women’s health in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, will be on site three days a week. She is one of only two physical medicine and rehabilitation physicians in Missouri trained in treating women’s pelvic pain. She also is able to address other musculoskeletal problems in women, including pain during pregnancy. According to Greg Worsowicz, MD, chair of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, the model involving both a physician and therapist for women’s pelvic pain is unique to Mizzou Therapy Services.
A part of MU Health Care, Mizzou Therapy Services offers comprehensive physical medicine and rehabilitation care at four locations. Other Mizzou Therapy Services centers are located at the Missouri Orthopaedic Institute at 1100 Virginia Ave., Rusk Rehabilitation Center at 315 Business Loop 70 and 1420 W. Ashley Road in Boonville.
