Community Calendar: MU Health Care to Host Safe-Driving Event

What: University of Missouri Health Care will host a free driving safety course for older adults called “Keep Your Keys.” The course will educate drivers ages 55 and older on how to stay medically and physically fit to drive. Participants will also receive resources to assist in planning for driving retirement.

Why: According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 16 older adults are killed and 648 are injured every day due to motor vehicle crash injuries. Through this injury-prevention program, older drivers will learn how to continue to drive safely, and how to determine when it’s time for driving retirement.

Who: Experts from MU Health Care’s Frank L. Mitchell Jr., M.D., Trauma Center will perform the screenings.

When: 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 17

Where: The Village of Bedford Walk, 415 Bailey Drive, Columbia, Missouri
