Cancer Survivors, Caregivers Invited to Reception at Ellis Fischel
COLUMBIA, Mo. — As part of National Cancer Survivors Month in June, Ellis Fischel Cancer Center will host a reception for survivors and caregivers from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, June 15, at Ellis Fischel Cancer Center, One Hospital Drive.
The event is open to all cancer survivors and caregivers, including individuals who have been recently diagnosed or currently are undergoing treatment. The reception will provide an opportunity to connect with other survivors, celebrate milestones and learn about supportive care and groups.
“At Ellis Fischel, we strive to provide a community of hope for our patients and their loved ones,” said Angela Winterbower, coordinator of outreach programs at Ellis Fischel Cancer Center and a cancer survivor herself. “We are hopeful about cancer survivorship, hopeful for the individual patients treated here and hopeful that someday very soon we will live in a world without cancer. This reception is just one small way cancer survivors, caregivers and providers can celebrate and acknowledge that hope.”
Throughout the month, two pictures of a tree without leaves will be on display in the lobbies of the cancer center. Survivors, caregivers and staff can put their fingerprint on the trees as leaves — a symbol of the hope that grows at Ellis Fischel.
Light refreshments will be served, and registration is not required to attend. For more information, please contact Winterbower at (573) 884-2049 or email@example.com.
