Della Rocca Recognized as a Top Orthopaedic Traumatologist
COLUMBIA, Mo. ― Gregory Della Rocca, MD, PhD, an associate professor of orthopaedic surgery at the University of Missouri School of Medicine and co-director of MU Health Care’s Division of Orthopaedic Trauma, recently was named to Orthopedics This Week’s “19 of the Best Orthopaedic Traumatologists in North America.”
A traumatologist is a physician or health professional who studies and treats people injured through traumatic events. Patients may include injured athletes, victims of domestic violence and those involved in automobile accidents.
“This is indeed an honor,” Della Rocca said. “However, I couldn’t do my work effectively without an extensive team of colleagues at our center, including my traumatology partners Dr. James Stannard, Dr. Brett Crist, and Dr. David Volgas.”
Della Rocca’s clinical interests include orthopaedic trauma, extremity fracture surgery, pelvic and acetabular fracture surgery, and complex elbow and foot trauma. His research interests include how common orthopaedic injuries occur after domestic violence, and he is involved in educating the public and other orthopaedic surgeons on the extent of this issue.
