Kohl's Department Stores Donate $38,253 to Injury Prevention Program at Children's Hospital
COLUMBIA, Mo. — The University of Missouri Children’s Hospital and Kohl’s Department Stores are teaming up to prevent unintentional injuries in children. Representatives from mid-Missouri Kohl’s stores in October presented a $38,253 check to the pediatric injury prevention and safety outreach program at MU Children’s Hospital.
The money was raised through the Kohl’s Cares Program. Children’s Hospital uses the money to purchase car seats and bike helmets to give away to children. The pediatric injury prevention and safety outreach program works with community organizations to help identify families who are eligible for free injury prevention materials.
Since 2007, Kohl’s has donated nearly $259,000 to Children’s Hospital.
“We are grateful for Kohl's continued support of MU Children’s Hospital and our efforts to prevent accidental injuries in mid-Missouri children," said Sheila Robertson, coordinator of pediatric injury prevention and safety outreach. “Unintentional injury is the No. 1 killer of children ages 1-19 in the United States. Through the Kohl’s Cares Buckle-Up Program, we are continuing to deliver important safety information and provide safety equipment to parents and children.”
The injury prevention program will reach more than 10,000 people this year at more than 40 community events.
