Community Calendar: MU Children’s Hospital to Host Safe Kids Day
University of Missouri Children’s Hospital is hosting its fifth annual Safe Kids Day. The free carnival-style event will feature live stage acts throughout the day. Booths at the event will offer tips on injury prevention and child safety, including sports safety and vehicle safety using actual race cars.
Children also will have an opportunity to explore a fire truck and meet and greet princesses and superheroes. Free hot dogs, chips and a cookie will be available for participants. The first 50 children at the event will be fitted and receive a free bike helmet.
In addition, Safe Kids Columbia will unveil its new Safe Kids Mobile Education Unit. The van will travel to Audrain, Boone, Callaway, Cole, Cooper and Howard counties to provide safety resources and education to families. The van will visit camps, bike rodeos and other community events throughout the summer. The Safe Kids Mobile Education Unit is funded by a $25,000 gift from Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Missouri.
The event is free and open to the public.
