Program Highlights

Accreditation
Our program received ongoing full accreditation by the OB/GYN Residency Review Committee of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education in January 2008. The strong endorsement of a four-year cycle granted by the ACGME serves as an external objective testimony to our program’s strength.
Strong Faculty Support
Our faculty members are committed to attend teaching rounds every day with our residents on the Obstetrics and Gynecological Oncology services, and twice a week with residents on the Gynecological Surgery service. During teaching rounds, residents, faculty, and medical students interact together and use the cases of the day as a springboard for learning. In addition, each resident has faculty mentor support, and well as support for job procurement or fellowship placement. Timely and constructive feedback is given regularly, and frequent sessions with the program director keeps lines of communication open.
Weekly Didactics
Once a week we dedicate a half-day to formal didactics including Grand Rounds, Journal Club, Morbidity & Mortality Conference, faculty and resident lectures, CREOG reviews, and resident meetings.
Resident-Focused Program
Our program is resident-focused, with a strong hierarchical structure and clearly defined objectives. We seek continuous improvement based on resident feedback. Residents assume higher degrees of clinical and teaching responsibilities with each subsequent year in the program.
World-Class Academic Presence
Our Department has a strong academic presence, with many recent publications in journals including Obstetrics & Gynecology (Dr. Brennaman), American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology (Dr. Foster), Journal of the American College of Surgeons (Drs. Christian and Barrier), Gynecological Oncology (Drs. Barrier, Timms, and Clark), Journal of Biological Chemistry (Drs. Clark and Schust), and Human Reproduction (Drs. Barrier, Timms, Ryan, Allison, and Schust). Our research labs include over 2,000 sq. feet of wet lab space and 17 personnel, and our surgical and educational research programs are rapidly expanding.
