University Physicians Offers Missouri Communities Internal Medicine Services
Internal medicine physicians, also known
as internists, are medicine specialists who treat patients throughout their adult years, from adolescence to the senior years - much the same way a pediatrician specializes in childhood illnesses.
These physicians are trained to be expert diagnosticians and frequently are consulted by other physicians regarding complicated diagnostic questions. Often the first physician a patient will see when a medical problem arises is an internist, who is taught to recognize and manage a wide variety of adult medical problems and to provide long-term continuous care throughout the patient's life.
