Rheumatology Conditions

Rheumatologists treat arthritis and other disorders of the joints, muscles, ligaments, and other autoimmune diseases. Dermatology is the study of skin, nail and hair disease. Autoimmune connective tissue diseases often overlap between rheumatologic disease and dermatologic disease. Sometimes, it might be unclear whether a patient’s symptoms are a manifestation of single disease-related process. That’s when having both a rheumatologist and a dermatologist treat your specific conditions is beneficial.

In our combined dermatology rheumatology clinic, dermatologist Kara Braudis, MD, and rheumatologist Celso Velazquez, MD, provide patients with evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment for suspected rheumatologic diseases that also might affect the skin.

Conditions treated include:

  • Dermatomyositis
