All of us continue to be deeply touched by the events unfolding in West Africa. We understand that many of you may have questions regarding Ebola, so we are offering the following resources for information.
To be clear, there have been no confirmed cases of Ebola at the University of Missouri, MU Health Care or in Missouri. The risk of contracting Ebola is extremely low. Ebola is spread only through close personal contact with the blood and/or bodily fluids of an infected person or animal. People are only contagious if they have active symptoms. The virus is not transmitted through the air.
Listen to Dr. Stevan Whitt, chief medical officer for the University of Missouri Health System, discuss ebola symptoms and global implications on Missouri Medical Focus.
