Missouri Stroke Center

MU's comprehensive stroke program offers a multi-disciplinary approach to treating any type of strokes or stroke related illnesses. With the only neuro-intensive care unit in Mid-Missouri, we offer the highest level of stroke care available. "TIME LOSS IS BRAIN LOSS" for any stroke victim and our dedicated stroke team strives to provide care in the most timely manner to work toward the best outcome for the patient. In addition to having several key clinical programs on site, 24/7, with the most current, state of the art protocols and equipment for treatment, we offer many ancillary clinical and non-clinical services to patients and their families during the hospital stay under one facility.

With the the region's only dedicated stroke neurologist and fellowship-trained neuro-interventionalists on site, University of Missouri Health Care has assembled a multidisciplinary stroke team to provide care to our patients from acute stroke presentation to rehabilitation. The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services has given MU's stroke program a Certified Level I Comprehensive Stroke Center designation. MU's stroke program was also recently rated "Gold Plus With Target Stroke Honor Roll" by the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association for 2015 and has been certified by the Joint Commission as an Advanced Primary Stroke Center.

Stroke

The Missouri Stroke Program has been certified as an Advanced Primary Stroke Center by The Joint Commission.       

The Missouri Stroke Program has received the Stroke Gold Plus Performance Achievement Award from Get With The Guidelines®, a hospital-based quality improvement program developed by the American Heart Association and the American Stroke Association.

The Missouri Stroke Program has also been named to the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Target: Stroke Honor Roll.

Epilepsy 

The Missouri Epilepsy Program is recognized by the National Association of Epilepsy Center as a Level 4 epilepsy center.
