Traumatic Brain Injury

From intensive care to community reintegration, patients with a brain injury require a well-coordinated inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation team. Our physical medicine and rehabilitation team offers full services for patients with brain injuries, including medical, psychological, educational and vocational plans. Our team members are specialists who work with patients and their families to ensure the best quality of care possible.

Our Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Clinic is a comprehensive brain dysfunction clinic. Diagnostic categories include: TBI, hypoxia/anoxia encephalopathy, metabolic encephalopathy, brain aneurysm and viral encephalopathy. Patients with memory and cognitive problems secondary to the diagnosis listed are evaluated. The clinic provides evaluation and arrangement for further testing, if needed. Recommendations can be made for neuropsychological testing, driving evaluations for the cognitively impaired, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech and language therapy. The aggressive management of behavior and cognitive problems resulting from these injuries is employed using current recommendations for neuropharmacology and neurotransmitter treatment. Arrangements are made for appropriate psychological and psychiatric interventions.
