Sun Safety

Though you can't reverse sun damage, you can take steps to prevent further damage and lower the risk of developing skin cancer. It's easy. Wear sunscreen and get an annual skin exam. To schedule a screening at Ellis Fischel Cancer Center, please call (573) 882-8511 or schedule an appointment with our dermatology clinic at (573) 882-4800.

Sun safety is important. Here are some great tips on staying safe in the sun:

  • Generously apply water-resistant sunscreen
  • Wear protective clothes, such as long-sleeved shirts, pants, a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses
  • Seek shade when the sun's rays are their strongest, which is between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
  • Use extra caution near water, snow and sand as these elements can reflect the sun's rays

Test your knowledge about summer sun exposure.
