Columbia Regional Hospitals and Clinics Staff Council
What is Staff Council?
Columbia Regional Hospital and Clinics Staff Council is an advisory body that strives to improve the working environment and the communication between Columbia Regional Hospital staff and administration. The Staff Council reports administratively directly to Columbia Regional Hospital Hospital’s Administration Staff, who coordinates issues with University of Missouri Health Care Leadership, as needed. The Staff Council is comprised of 15 to 20 voting members from Columbia Regional Hospital and Columbia Regional Hospital-based clinics and a Columbia Regional Hospital Administrative representative who serves as a non-voting advisor.
Functions of the Staff Council are to:
- Represent the concerns of all staff members
- Act as a sounding board for Columbia Regional Hospital administration on various issues
- Recommend activities and policies to Columbia Regional Hospital administration for consideration
- Provide representatives for various committees and task forces
- Coordinate activities and events
Who is eligible to serve on the Staff Council?
An eligible member of Staff Council is a permanent (after probation) staff member of Columbia Regional Hospital or a Columbia Regional Hospital-based clinic, with the exception of managers and upper level administration. Nominations and/or applications will occur in November each year for Columbia Regional Hospital Staff Council positions that will be vacated. Nominations will come from department managers at Columbia Regional Hospital or Columbia Regional Hospital-based clinics. The nomination form will be publicized in internal communications.
What is the term of office?
Council members are elected for two-year terms and may only be elected to two consecutive terms. Terms of office begin Jan. 1 and end Dec. 31. Current members must be reappointed by their department manager after their first term.
