For all post operative patients, If your have changed your address or phone number please contact our office at your earliest convenience at 573-882-5673 or by e-mail at 2lose@health.missouri.edu. It is imperative that we have your updated information on file. In the very near future you will be receiving a packet in the mail from our office. PLEASE DO NOT THROW IT AWAY!
Missouri Bariatric Services is currently applying for a Center of Excellence certification. This Center of Excellence is important to us for a number of reasons. First and foremost we believe that it improves the quality of care that is delivered to our patients. Next we believe that in the very near future insurance companies will soon require facilities to have this COE designation and/or a certification from the American College of Surgeons in order to receive financial reimbursement for bariatric surgery. As of February 21, 2006, Medicare adopted this very policy. This means that soon programs that do not have this certification may no longer be reimbursed by insurance companies.
Part of this certification process is reporting the progress and outcomes of our patients. We know that our patients have exceptional outcomes through our program. It is critical to the certification process that we provide this information to the credentialing organizations. In order to do this we need your consent. We will be sending some papers to you in the mail within the next 2 months. Please read, sign and return it to our office (in the self addressed, postage paid, return envelope) at your earliest convenience. If you have questions regarding its content please do not hesitate to contact me. It is very important that we be able to include your patient information for statistical purposes only. Your name will not be reported with any of the data.
For all individuals considering Missouri Bariatric Services for their weight loss surgery needs, please contact our office at 573-882-LOSE (5673) to sign of for an informational seminar about the disease of obesity and our program. At this seminar, you will be provided with our office paperwork. Upon completing this paperwork, our office will contact you to schedule a clinic visit with the physician of your choice.
As always, if you have a question for “Ask Nancy”, the dietitian, or myself please e-mail us with your comments, and/or suggestions to: 2lose@health.missouri.edu.
