Application has been made to the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. (NCHEC) for CHES Category I continuing education contact hours (CHEH).

The theme for the 2007 Priester Conference is Extension on the Move: Advancing Health for Every Body.   The theme celebrates Extension’s long history of involvement in promoting health and preventing disease across the life span.  Invited plenary speakers will address community and environmental factors impacting health status and current health education theory and research.  Concurrent sessions will provide information and resources about individual behavior change strategies, health care access and quality, health policy, community health infrastructure, and/or health literacy.   All sessions are related to four tracks – Chronic Disease Prevention and Management, Healthy Homes, Rural Health, and Successful Aging.

This year’s share fair will provide conference participants with an informal opportunity to review successful programs, projects, research, evaluation strategies and resources and talk with the extension professionals that developed these materials.  Table top displays, sample materials, brochures, and contact information will be available.  Share Fair includes a reception with healthy and hearty food.

Participants at previous conferences include individuals from the Cooperative Extension System state and county offices, CSREES/USDA, Departments of Public Health, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Office of Rural Health, Bureau of Primary Health Care, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, National Cancer Institute, National 4H Council, National Rural Health Association, public school systems, local governments, private non-profits, faith based organizations, and other university departments of health related disciplines.

This year’s conference is sponsored by United States Department of Agriculture-Cooperative State Research Education and Extension Service (USDA-CSREES) and University of Missouri Extension with support from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Healthy Homes Program.

Named in honor of retired CSREES National Program Leader Jeanne Priester, this conference offers professionals from Cooperative Extension and their community partners an opportunity to share health related educational programs and resources, applied research, and collaborative strategies.  The Priester Conference is a great opportunity to build skills and knowledge in health programming and research, develop new partnerships and strengthen existing ones, and gain new ideas and resources for promoting the health of your community.

We look forward to seeing you in Kansas City!
