Who Can See My Records?
University of Missouri Health Care physicians and staff have access to your records only when access relates to your care and billing functions related to your care. No one else sees your records without your authorization, a court order, a search warrant, other lawful disclosures or for emergency health care.
Are there exceptions to medical record access?
Federal regulations impose further requirements in accessing information on drug and alcohol abuse medical records and mental health medical records. Specific detailed authorizations must be obtained from the patient before disclosure of this information.
Subpoenas and court orders are the other exceptions. A health care facility must present medical records for use in that particular court case.
