Cancer and Blood Disorders
Welcome to mid-Missouri's preeminent health care center for children suffering from all types of cancer and blood disorders. We offer children and their families state-of-the-art medical care infused with understanding and compassion. From our leading-edge physicians and research to our social workers, nurses and child life therapists, our team is singularly dedicated to healing and nurturing children.
State-of-the-Art, Comprehensive Health Care
We offer an unmatched combination of leading-edge research and medical care with an individualized, multidisciplinary approach. Every one of our patients receives world-class care from a team of medical and surgical experts, specially trained nurses, pathologists, radiologists, radiation therapists, social workers, child life therapists and other health care consultants, all specifically trained in pediatric subspecialties. Because MU Children's Hospital and Ellis Fischel Cancer Center are both part of University of Missouri Health Care, our health care team has access to the most progressive pediatric and cancer specialists in the area. Their combined knowledge and expertise translates directly into the best possible care for your child.
Exemplary Care with a Compassionate Touch
Every member of our health care team has been specifically trained in family and pediatric patient-centered care. We realize the emotional health and well-being of our patients has an enormous impact on their overall outcomes. Therefore, we strive to continually nurture the spirit, as well as the body, of every child who walks through our doors.
Our Child Life therapists make sure kids are comfortable, at ease and best of all, get to be kids, even while undergoing treatment. We use technology like vein viewers, which make finding veins for tests and IVs much easier and less painful. Our expert team also offers the advantage of a dedicated social worker, Lauren Grana, MSW, who is specially trained and has the experience necessary to help families navigate the world of treatment plans and protocols, and facilitate communication with their health care team.
We are also the proud beneficiary of Pascale's Pals, a mid-Missouri not-for-profit organization, whose single goal is to improve the comfort of our patients and their families.
